Travelling by Train
If you’re arriving by train, nothing could be easier. The Jam Factory is only a few minutes’ walk from the station – albeit across a busy road. On leaving the station building go straight ahead across the car park, turn right and cross the main road at a set of three Pelican crossings. Turn left, and then next right into Hollybush Row.
Please note: There are more strikes planned for Southern trains from Thursday 3 November until Saturday 5 November, which includes our event. Unfortunately, if you live in south-east England, you may need to make other travel plans.
Travelling by Car
You may have heard that parking in Oxford is a nightmare, and usually that’s true. However in this case we’re very lucky: there’s a temporary car park in Osney Lane which is open from 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. – the charge is £7 cash only for part or all of that time. Park first, and pay at the hut as you leave the car park – the ticket does not have to be displayed in the vehicle. The only down side of this facility is that as it’s not properly surfaced it could be unpleasant in wet weather.
If possible, enter Oxford from the south-west on the A420. Soon after the junction with the A34 Oxford Ring Road you pass under a blue railway bridge; go straight ahead towards the Royal Oxford Hotel (a large, mustard-coloured building) and then turn right into Hollybush Row. The Jam Factory is on the right-hand side soon after the turning; Osney Lane is the second turning on the right after that, and the car park is clearly signposted.
Anyone with a blue badge can park on St Thomas Street, which is the first turning on the right after The Jam Factory.
Anyone preferring not to tackle driving in the city centre can use the Oxford Park and Ride scheme. The nearest is Seacourt Park & Ride, being on Botley Road/A420.
Travelling by Coach or Bus
Buses are available at Gloucester Green Bus Station. From there, walk west along George Street into Hythe Bridge Road and turn left into Park End Street when you reach the Royal Oxford Hotel; from there cross the road junction into Hollybush Row. This should take no more than about ten or fifteen minutes.
See the Oxford Bus Company for the London bus service.
